2003 The Haunted Pumpkin Of Sleepy Hollow

It's Halloween and friends Nick and Kate are on a mission to find the biggest pumpkin in the patch. Unfortunately, the pumpkin they choose is haunted by the ghost of the Headless Horseman, and he wants his head back.

The only Sleepy Hollow/Headless Horseman video posted this year. A family friendly modern rendition of the Headless Horseman story with mild scariness mixed with humor. An okay version not as good as Disney's, but it does have a catchy tune much like the theme song from What's New Scooby Doo.

1988 Primal Rage

Synopsis: A scientist at a Florida university inadvertently creates a 'rage virus' while performing experiments intended to restore dead brain tissue in baboons. When a journalist for the college paper breaks into the campus lab, he's bitten by one of the infected baboons; the virus soon spreads to a trio of troublemakers and a valley girl, all of whom go on killing sprees.

A decent 1988 horror movie with okay gory makeup effects. Contains a great Halloween party scene and very 80s music throughout the film. Rated R. The official DVD released by Code Red is sold out and hard to find for a reasonable price but you can buy a bootleg on ioffer.com for $8 or you can watch below from dailymotion.com.

1962 ROUTE 66: Lizard's Leg & Owlet's Wing

As first broadcast on October 26th, 1962, here's the famous Halloween episode of ROUTE 66, complete with original network commercials, a rare slice of classic television just as it was seen a half-century ago. Featuring three of classic horror's biggest stars: Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney Jr., and Boris Karloff! Chaney Jr. gives his take on his father's classic role as Quasimoto in the silent The Hunchback of Notre Dam and also appears as Kharis the mummy. Additionally this program marks the last time Karloff and Chaney would don the classic makeup of both the Wolf Man, and Frankenstein's Monster.

1984 The Fall Guy - October 31st with Elvira

Here is a post for Ladydragon Queen who is also participating in the 2014 Countdown to Halloween. You can view her blog at lady.dragonempress.net.

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and veteran horror movie actor John Carradine guest star in a Halloween haunted house mystery solved by The Fall Guy which is a TV series that starred Lee Majors as Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers (also nicknamed The Fall Guy) who moonlights as a bounty hunter. Carradine's sons Keith, Robert, and David Carradine also made a cameo appearance with their father but that scene seems to be missing from this video.

This is the 7th episode of the fourth season of The Fall Guy that originally aired on October 31, 1984. It's called October 31st and is the first of two episodes of the series that Elvira guest starred. The second episode was called October the 32nd and aired the following year, I posted that episode during 2012's Countdown, you can watch it here.

1988 Hack-O-Lantern

A kindly old grandfather initiates his innocent grandson into a devil-worshiping cult at a tender age, culminating in his induction as a full-fledged member in young adulthood on Halloween. Also called Halloween Night on IMDb.com.

A part slasher, part satanic horror film that takes place on Halloween with a music video by real life '80s heavy metal band DC Lacroix, an odd standup comedy routine in the middle of a Halloween party and a twist ending. I liked it. Hard to find on VHS, never received an official DVD release but you can find bootleg DVDs of the film online or you can watch on YouTube below:

1995 Tiny Toon Adventures: Toons from the Crypt

This is for all you Tales from the Crypt fans out there. Not really a Halloween special but I guess it's Halloween related. In the early 90's, the folks at Tiny Toons decided to do a little homage to the classic HBO horror series. When they presented it to the Fox censors, they rejected it saying it was too gruesome for network television and was never shown on Fox Kids. However, some time later Nickelodeon got a hold of it and aired it on their cable channel in reruns and syndication in Fall 1995 up until 2000. Buster Bunny portrays the Cryptkeeper. Coincidentally, John Kassir, the voice of the Cryptkeeper, would later become Buster's second voice actor after Charlie Adler quit after being denied a part on Animaniacs.

2003 The 100 Greatest Scary Moments

Description from tvtropes.org: In 2003, over two nights coming up to Halloween (25/26 October specifically), British television network Channel Four counted down the 100 Greatest Scary Moments on film and television, as voted for by the viewers. Presented by comedian Jimmy Carr, the list had a fairly even mix of movies from different periods and sub-genres, including the silent screamers, monster movies, slasher pics and even Asian horror. Moreover, the list included films and television series outside the horror genre because they contained classic examples of Nightmare Fuel. It was similar in style to the American show 100 Scariest Movie Moments broadcast on Bravo a year later. Celebrity guest interviews included Sigourney Weaver, John Carpenter, Janet Leigh, Wes Craven, Alice Cooper, Robert Englund, Christopher Lee and Steven Spielberg. 1982 Tim Burton's Hansel and Gretel

Youtube description: AT LAST!! For you obscure media fans, here is one of legendary filmmaker Tim Burton's early efforts in collaboration with The Disney Channel that aired only once on Halloween night in 1982.

This is Burton's unique, twisted, Burtonesque version of the classic Grimm Fairy Tale featuring an all Asian cast. Hansel and Gretel are the two children of a poor toymaker, whose evil stepmother wishes to do away with them to avoid starving. After being intentionally led away in the woods, they come across a gingerbread house attended to by a bizarre, but seemingly nice old hag with a candy cane nose! (played by the same male actor as the Stepmother) who turns out to have evil designs for our heroes!

After the initial airing, Disney Channel execs were so distraught by the frightening subject matter, that they never allowed the film to be shown again. Thankfully, someone managed to tape it that night, which provides us with this footage.

CAST
---------
Hansel - Andy Lee
Gretel - Alison Hong
Stepmother / Wicked Witch - Michael Yama
Father - Jim Ishida
Dan Dan the Gingerbread Man (voice) - David Koenigsburg

Features early work by Stephen Chiodo of the Chiodo Bros. Studio as well as the late Joe Ranft of Disney and Pixar.

Music by John Costa of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood fame!

A very special thanks to Ricsie and his source for locating this!!

1980's The Real Ghostbusters - Halloween Episodes

Ghostbusters (1984) was my favorite movie from my childhood which made The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1991) my favorite animated series. I still have the Real Ghostbusters toys (the ecto-1, all 4 ghostbusters, slimer and a can of dried up ecto-plazm) that I got on Christmas of '87 or '88. I loved the whole series especially the 3 Halloween episodes.
